As part of their 75-year commitment to serving the community, FAIRWINDS Credit Union has introduced a new volunteerism and workplace benefit for all of its employees. The CommUNITY Crew Volunteer Program aims to empower FAIRWINDS employees to make a positive impact in their communities by providing every employee up to 8 hours of paid time off annually to volunteer.

The CommUNITY Crew Volunteer Program reflects FAIRWINDS’ commitment to living generously and fostering a culture of giving back. By encouraging employees to engage in volunteer activities, the program not only benefits local communities, but can also enhance employee satisfaction and promote a sense of purpose beyond the workplace.

"We are excited to introduce CommUNITY Crew as part of our ongoing efforts to drive change in the communities we call home," said Elisha González, vice president of community relations & government affairs for FAIRWINDS, and executive director of the FAIRWINDS Foundation.

With April commemorated as National Volunteer Month, FAIRWINDS proudly celebrated its new volunteer program and recognized the collective efforts of its employees, who dedicated 200 hours of their time to volunteering in various community initiatives supporting a dozen local nonprofit organizations. From feeding underserved military and veteran families to teaching financial education, empowering youth, alleviating homelessness, caring for animals, and many others, our crewmembers’ involvement in these causes have helped change the lives of our most vulnerable neighbors.

Through CommUNITY Crew, employees can choose from a wide range of volunteer opportunities, including environmental conservation, education, supporting vulnerable populations, and more. Whether it's participating in a river cleanup, teaching financial literacy to students, or assisting at a local shelter, employees have the flexibility to contribute to causes they are passionate about.

Said González, "We believe that giving our employees the opportunity to volunteer during work hours not only enriches their lives, but also strengthens the vibrancy of the communities in which we live and work."
